Recipe: Chocolate and Fig Protein Ball Recipe

fig protein balls

These basically came about because I had some dried figs in my cupboard that were going out of date!

Always one to use any excuse to create a chocolate based recipe, I experimented with making these chocolate fig balls and they came out pretty well ๐Ÿ™‚

This recipe makes 16 ballsย (be prepared to get sticky chocolate and fig-covered hands when you make them!) and the macros for a serving of 2 balls are listed below.

Would make a great snack when you need a little boost before a walk or a workout, or just to keep you going until your next meal.

125g dried figs
50g chocolate brownie whey
50 rolled oats
30g cacao powder
25g dark chocolate chips

Put the figs in a bowl and add enough water to just cover them, then microwave for 1 minute.
Tip away the water and cover them with cold water to allow them to cool.
Leave for 5 minutes.
Pour most of water away, leaving about 2 tablespoons in with the figs, then add this all to the blender.
Blitz into a puree, then add everything else except the chocolate chips.
If it seems like it needs a bit more water, add a little more in, but make sure it’s not too wet that you’ll struggle to shape it into balls.
Fold chocolate chips into the mixture.
