These basically came about because I had some dried figs in my cupboard that were going out of date!
Always one to use any excuse to create a chocolate based recipe, I experimented with making these chocolate fig balls and they came out pretty well 🙂
This recipe makes 16 balls (be prepared to get sticky chocolate and fig-covered hands when you make them!) and the macros for a serving of 2 balls are listed below.
Would make a great snack when you need a little boost before a walk or a workout, or just to keep you going until your next meal.
Enjoy!
Ingredients
125g dried figs
50g chocolate brownie whey
50 rolled oats
30g cacao powder
25g dark chocolate chips
Instructions
Put the figs in a bowl and add enough water to just cover them, then microwave for 1 minute.
Tip away the water and cover them with cold water to allow them to cool.
Leave for 5 minutes.
Pour most of water away, leaving about 2 tablespoons in with the figs, then add this all to the blender.
Blitz into a puree, then add everything else except the chocolate chips.
If it seems like it needs a bit more water, add a little more in, but make sure it’s not too wet that you’ll struggle to shape it into balls.
Fold chocolate chips into the mixture.
