How to change your negative thoughts and finally live the life you deserve.
Firstly, a little tough love and a few home truths…
The things that are happening in your life and the way you look and feel right now are a direct result of your thoughts and decisions up to this point.
If you feel unhappy with yourself and your body, you have CHOSEN to feel this way.
You’ve allowed your brain to throw insults at you, to tell you you’re fat, stupid, ugly, and anything else nasty it can think of, and you haven’t questioned those thoughts.
No one forced you to think those thoughts, and no one made you believe them.
You did.
And once you take responsibility for that, you realise that you can change everything.
The only thing that you have 100% control over at all times is what you think and believe.
You may have spent a long time believing some horrible thoughts about yourself. But ask yourself now, are those thoughts ACTUALLY true? REALLY?
What would you say to your best friend or your child if they said these things about themselves?
If they believe they are fat, stupid, ugly and unworthy of self-love, does that make it true?
Of course not!
How horrified would you be if you heard them say the things that you say to yourself on a regular basis?
No one deserves that kind of abuse.
You have to be your own best friend.
You may not be able to stop the negative thoughts occurring, at least initially. But you can immediately question them, realise they are total b***ocks – just a habitual thought pattern that isn’t true, and replace them with a positive thought instead.
‘I’m so fat and ugly’ could become ‘I am a beautiful person inside and out’.
‘I look awful’ could become ‘I look and feel really good today’
‘I’m so stupid, I always do things wrong’ could turn into ‘oops! Oh well, I was trying to do good and I’ve learned something for next time.’
You may find these positive statements hard to believe, but what would you rather focus on?
If your attention is on the positive thoughts, you cannot think and feel negatively.
This in itself will make you feel better than you did, even if you cannot believe the thoughts to be true yet.
It is true that you become what you think about.
The happiest, most care-free, self-confident people in the world CHOOSE to feel that way.
They nourish their minds daily with thoughts of things they’ve done well, successes they’ve had, things they like about themselves, how kind people can be, how abundant life is. They see the positives in every situation. They love themselves. Not in an arrogant way, but in a way that everyone should. It’s perfectly ok to notice things you like about yourself, to appreciate your body and to know that you are a kind, caring person who deserves to be loved and treated well.
But if you don’t love and treat yourself well, why should you expect anyone else to?
If you don’t love yourself, you won’t have a very happy life.
And that’s a tragedy, because you only get to live it once.
Every day is a chance to be happy. To do good. To feel good. To appreciate everything you have. To improve in some way. To set an example to others. To make the world a better place.
Every time you wake up in the morning, you have one day less in which to LIVE.
To do everything you want, experience everything you want, BE everything you want.
What to most people really want more than anything?
To be happy.
And you can choose that happiness right now.
The thoughts are yours. The feelings are yours.
You can make them anything you want.
Choose happiness.
