TRAINING EQUIPMENT
For easy home workouts, this set of dumbells is a great starting point and will open up a whole new set of exercises you can do without having to set foot in the gym. They go up to 10kg each and much better value than buying individual dumbells that can’t be adjusted:
FOAM ROLLER
If you get tight hips, a stiff back, achey knees, or more than one of the above, I highly recommend a foam roller. Even if you don’t suffer with any of these things, I still recommend it.
Basically the next best thing to having a regular massage – rolling on this will get deep into tight muscle and help release it. It’s great if you exercise a lot, and also if you sit down a lot too. Either way you tend to get stiff and tight over time. Using the roller regularly on the quads, calves, inner/outer thigh and upper back can be a big help to keep your body in working order and avoid aches and pains later on. This roller comes with instructions, but chat to a physio if you are unsure or have any injuries that need to be carefully managed.
COOKING INGREDIENTS
Most things you can get in your local supermarket, but there are a few ‘special ingredients’ that are cheaper to buy online.
Coconut oil isn’t cheap! But it is great to cook with (especially frying at high heats) and this tub should last you a pretty long time:
Cacao powder is a must for making healthy-yet-indulgent chocolatey snacks and recipes, like the ones in my ebook.
It’s basically the rawest version of cocoa powder before it is refined and stripped of many of it’s nutrients. It can be added to smoothies, porridge and general chocolate flavour baking to give a rich, dark, chocolately taste, and a little protein boost too. PROTEIN BARS
Protein bars can make a great convenient snack, and some taste so good you feel like you’re having a real indulgent treat.
Some are better than others in terms of calories, ingredients, levels of protein and taste. You’re looking for 20g of protein and around 200 calories in a good protein bar. My clients and myself have voted these ones the best:
